13:27 BELGRADE, Tuesday - The Democratic Opposition of Serbia signed a
coalition contract this morning that details all the conditions for the
cooperation of its constituent parties during the republic elections in
Serbia on December 23.
According to the agreement, the DOS candidate list would carry the name
of Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica, while the first name on that
list would be the Democratic Party President Zoran Djindjic.
During the signing, the DOS representatives said that the make-up and
the program of the future government would be presented in a week and that
it would be the core of the election campaign to begin on December 1. The
deadline for submission of lists will be on December 7.
The Democratic Party official Cedomir Jovanovic said that their
candidate list would be submitted by the December 7 deadline and that the
gathering of necessary signatures was already underway.
After the signing of the contract, Belgrade Mayor Milan St. Protic read
a joint DOS statement that sternly condemned the terrorist and
secessionist acts by extremist Albanians in southern Serbia.
DOS emphasised that the problem should be solved peacefully, but also
said that Serbian security forces were ready to protect the peace,
freedom, and territory of Serbia. |
